Science Curriculum

The science curriculum at CAL follows the researched claim that the best way to learn about science is by doing science.  CAL’s FOSS (Full Option Science System) Next Generation science curriculum engages students with meaningful and active learning opportunities, prepares students for success by meeting the Next Generation Science Standards, and integrates reading and literacy strategies into the science curriculum.  For each grade level there are three modules: life science, earth science, and physical science. The modules by grade level are:

Second Grade:    Insects and Plants; Pebbles, Sand, and Silt; Solids and Liquids

Third Grade:        Structures of Life; Water and Climate; Motion and Matter
