Mayor Visits CAL Middle School Civics Class
Mayor Kent Morton took a couple of hours off his regular job to come and visit the CAL Middle School classrooms on April 25. The students had many questions ready to ask the Mayor.
The Civic classes have been studying our government for the past year. First with the beginning of democracy, then the Constitution, Bill of Rights, the three branches of government, State Government, and then finally County and Local Government.
Mayor Morton came in and discussed many of his duties and roles as the Mayor and council member of a small town. He talked about the problems and successes a small town in central Iowa faces today.
The students asked many questions about ordinances, utilities, and many other duties and roles a local government may have.
The Civics classes appreciate the time Mayor Morton took out out of his busy schedule to talk to them.
