CAL Will Remain the Cadets
Thank you for your comments and suggestions regarding the possibility of changing the mascot. In the end, there is overwhelming support to maintain the current mascot. We have worked so hard to create a positive and progressive school experience that students, parents, and the community can be proud of. The last thing the school district would want is losing our current strong support of CAL and its traditions. Moving forward, we will talk with students about what it means to be a Cadet so that tradition can continue.
Thank you again for your input and "Go Cadets!"

6th grade and 3rd grade enjoyed some time together this afternoon for our "All School" PBIS scavenger hunt reward.

1st grade has been learning about the different layers of the Earth in reading. In science we planted corn in different layers-rock, soil, clay, and sand. We will then watch and see which one the corn grows best in!

1st grade enjoyed having the dentist come talk about brushing and flossing correctly! Learned what sugar can do to our teeth!

6th grade has been learning about elements, molecules, compounds, and mixtures in science. This week they have been working on creating models with marshmallows and toothpicks!

1st grade watched the groundhog video today and learned we have 6 more weeks of winter. No one was very excited about that!

Kindergarten loved the visit from Central Park dentistry! They learned all about how to take care of their teeth!

1st grade enjoyed donuts for reaching their PBIS reward and had juice boxes with it for doing well on a reading and a math test!

4th grade has been learning about energy and energy transfer in science. They have discussed that when thermal energy (heat) is present it means molecules are moving fast. Today they experimented with food coloring dispersion in different temperatures of water…. That were able to see that the fast moving molecules in very hot water dispersed the dye more evenly and much more quickly than the slow moving molecules in ice water. This was a fun hands on lesson!

2nd grade students have been learning about life cycles in Reading. Yesterday, they wrote informational paragraphs about the stages in a frog’s life cycle.
