1st grade has been learning about germs and how to keep their bodies healthy. We practiced with a hand washing activity yesterday. They got a little bit of petroleum jelly to mimic the oils in our hands and then some glitter to mimic the germs. They washed their hands once with just water and realized the germs stayed on and then had to wash with soap and water to learn the importance of washing with soap and water!

1st grade has been learning about goods and services in social studies and worked in groups to put puzzle pieces together to match the service to what they do!

1st grade enjoyed some sunshine in beginning of week and practiced making shadows for science! They learned that they need a light source and an object to block the light to make a shadow!

2nd grade students authored and illustrated their own books containing facts they had learned about ancient Chinese writing systems. They practiced collaboration skills to complete their books and presented them aloud to their classmates.

3rd grade had some well-earned artistic fun today!! Great PBIS classroom celebration!

5th grade practiced their rhythm today in music! It's a rhythm grid jumping game to music where they have to feel the beat in order to jump at the right time. They did great!

1st graders are bringing home their pickles today so be sure to check backpacks and put them in the fridge!

3rd grade science: cars doing magnet tricks! Gravity, magnetic force, motion, and friction... oh my!

We ran out of time this afternoon to send first grade pickles home! They will stay safely tucked away in the fridge at school for now, but will come home with 1st graders on Monday!

First grade wrapped up their pickle making today! Using cucumbers from the school garden (which they started from seed last spring!) and dill from the school gardens, they made refrigerator dill pickles and microwave sweet pickles over the last two weeks. They made some to taste test, some to sell to staff at school, AND today they made some to bring home and share with their families! We will refrigerate their pickles overnight and send them home with students tomorrow so be sure to check backpacks/bags! The pickles will need to be kept in the fridge. Although the first graders are such good pickle makers they say you'll probably eat them all up right away!

2nd grade students practicing peeling and chopping potatoes for their recipe. The students finished writing out the ingredient list for mashed potatoes, and they got to taste test their recipe at the end. They will be making french fries with their potatoes next!

Preschool went on their first visit to the farm!

5th graders used their five senses to describe the outside farm today! We are working on including descriptive language in our writing.

Rosie knows that "Readers are Leaders"! Today, while her cage got fresh bedding, she chose to read The Good Egg by Jory John to learn more about making good choices and using coping strategies to regulate her emotions.
