1st grade has been discussing and leaving about different goods and services in social studies. We had another person zoom in, Mrs. Disneys brother who shared what he provides as a farmer! They were able to see his animals he has and what we can get from those animals as goods!

5th and 6th grade teamed up to move garden beds into the outdoor learning space today. The additional beds will be used next spring for vegetables. We love to see cooperation and hard work shown in and out of the classroom!

1st grade has been learning about germs and how to keep their bodies healthy. We practiced with a hand washing activity yesterday. They got a little bit of petroleum jelly to mimic the oils in our hands and then some glitter to mimic the germs. They washed their hands once with just water and realized the germs stayed on and then had to wash with soap and water to learn the importance of washing with soap and water!

We ran out of time this afternoon to send first grade pickles home! They will stay safely tucked away in the fridge at school for now, but will come home with 1st graders on Monday!

First grade wrapped up their pickle making today! Using cucumbers from the school garden (which they started from seed last spring!) and dill from the school gardens, they made refrigerator dill pickles and microwave sweet pickles over the last two weeks. They made some to taste test, some to sell to staff at school, AND today they made some to bring home and share with their families! We will refrigerate their pickles overnight and send them home with students tomorrow so be sure to check backpacks/bags! The pickles will need to be kept in the fridge. Although the first graders are such good pickle makers they say you'll probably eat them all up right away!
